It's been a crazy week I must confess with the whole Bootcamp process. We've been stretched as newbies in this space and it's been an awesome experience to be very honest. This is a Bootcamp project given to my team and we were asked to redesign any bank app or FinTech app, we chose a FinTech app called QUICKTELLER.

HOW THE PROJECT STARTED We searched for the app on Google Play Store, found some interesting but disturbing reviews, and decided to make a few adjustments to the app.

UX TECHNIQUES USED User Interviews| Survey| Empathy Mapping| User Persona| Wireframing| Prototyping.

TIMELINE FOR THIS PROJECT 1 week.

TEAM GOALS

  • To finish the redesign project from start to finish.
  • To learn how to conduct and analyze user research.
  • Learn and apply Design thinking throughout the project.
  • Learn to design wireframes and prototypes with Figma.
  • Learn to communicate and work with team members.
  • Learn to work under pressure.

SCOPE OF OUR DESIGN

RESEARCH Qualitative Research: We searched for the app on Google Play Store and found some interesting but disturbing reviews and we decided on making a few adjustments to the app. Some of the reviews are;

  • Users have a bad log-in experience from the customer review.
  • Bad experience while adding debit card
  • Verification process is long and slow, probably due to a server issue

Quantitative Research: From the reviews gotten, we framed a few questions and asked some of our friends and other people to gather data on their experiences while using the Quickteller app.

Some of the questions include:

  • How often do you make digital payments?
  • What problems do you encounter with available payment apps?
  • Have you heard of the digital payment platform Quickteller?
  • Have you used the Quickteller app to make payments or any other digital transactions?
  • Rate your login experience
  • How easy did you find using the Quickteller app?
  • What improvements do you want to see in the app?

ANALYSIS

Major Pain Points in the Current App: After interviewing the users, these are the major problems that the users are facing. It has many UI problems, I’m going to explain one of them which is;

REGISTRATION PROCESS NOT CONVENIENT FOR ALL USERS.

While registering on Quickteller, there isn’t a descriptive text to explain how or what they are going into, we fixed that by using a dummy text. The next problem was their registration form was very long and probably won’t fit on some screens, we divided ours into steps and added a place over text to direct the users on the format to use while inputting their details and to make it easier for them to navigate the app. The steps are; inputting their full name, email, and password, second is verifying the phone number As you can see on the designs, we added a place over text to direct them on how to input their country code as well as the numbers. Considering the purpose of redesigning, after verifying the phone number they can be able to setup their fingerprint and create a personal pass-code for phones that don’t use a fingerprint. Quickteller also has the fingerprint feature but it is not available at the registration stage but after registering which is not a good experience. The interesting part is have the icon or feature to skip the fingerprint stage and pass-code stage too which gives the user control over the process.

BAD LOGIN EXPERIENCE

While logging in on Quickteller, there is a “Remember me” icon on the login page which might make a third party user to just login and invade the user’s privacy cause the details is already saved. Since it is a financial app, we decided to remove the “Remember me” icon to ensure that the user’s account is not vulnerable. Instead of using the remember me icon, they will be able to use their fingerprint icon or the personal pass code created while registering.
